Hunton Immigration and Nationality Law Blog Has Just Posted the Following:
U.S. Customs and Border Protection has announced new fees for persons seeking authorization to travel to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program. The authorization is obtained prior to travel through the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA), and typically remains valid for two years. Beginning on September 8, 2010, the ESTA travel authorization will require a valid credit card for payment of a $14.00 fee. The purpose of the fee is to finance efforts to promote international travel to the United States, and cover operational costs associated with running the ESTA program. Individuals who already possess ESTA authorization do not need to pay the fee until it is time for them to reapply.

Hi,
I would like to apply for the H1B Visa. For the same, I would like to clarify whether I am eligible with the following education background (Basically I am looking for the 16Yrs education criteria)
1) Did schooling up to 10th (10 Yrs)
2) Did Diploma (3 Yrs, Full Time)
3) Total IT work experience is 9.10 Yrs
4) Did B.S ( Bachelor of Science -- 3Yrs - Work Integrated Course/Distance Edu)
5) Did M.S (Master of Science -- 2Yrs - Work Integrated Course/Distance Edu)
Please let me know whether I am eligible.

The country's best known Hispanic GOP politician, Florida Senator Mel Martinez, announced this morning that he would not be returning to the Senate after the August recess ends. The nonpartisan Congress.org (http://www.congress.org/congressorg/power_rankings/index.tt) released rankings of the most powerful legislators in Congress this week, and just as interesting as the newly empowered were those hovering at the bottom of the list. Predictably, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid topped the list, and the list quickly moved to committee chairmen with muscle.
The rankings took into account the legislators' ability to get things done by the traditional paths of leadership positions and committee assignments but left room for the "sizzle" factor -- reserved for those who "exert or possess power that can't be measured by these standard measures." Specifically mentioned in this category were three presidential candidates, Sens. John McCain (18th), Hillary Clinton (12th) and Barack Obama (27th).
Sen. Elizabeth Dole, sadly, was not given points for sizzle -- or much else, for that matter. She ranked as the 95th most powerful senator. Yes, that is out of 100. Vying for the bottom rung was also Sen. George Voinovich, who despite serving since 1998 ranked 90th. And as if he hasn't already had a bad year (or two), Rep. William Jefferson came in dead last in the House, awarded negative "fizzle" points due to scandal. Being accused of stashing a $90,000 bribe in his freezer was bound to affect something, since it tipped neither his reelection campaign nor his ability to get a committee assignment.

Hi Everyone,
The A# that is listed on my I-485 receipt notice is different from the one listed on my approved I-140. In addition, the number listed on my I-485 receipt notice has only 8 digits instead of 9. From reading various forums, I've heard both sides of the story...some are saying that something like this needs to be corrected, and some others are saying that the A# is just a file number, and eventually gets consolidated.
I called USCIS customer service, but they weren't much help as they couldn't pull up the information in their system.
Any inputs? I'm planning on inquiring about this when I go for fingerprinting. Also curious to know if anyone's A# on their approved I-140 has nine digits, and if the one on the I-485 receipt notice only has 8 digits.

I guess USCIS is sending Receipt Notes according to priority dates meaning with 2006-7 priority dates will get receipts later.
My 485 reached on 2nd july...No Update yet.

I made address changes to pending EAD renewal and I-485 yesterday in the afternoon for myself and spouse. Same day later in the evening I got email saying CPO for EAD renewal. This is a story of 8/20/2008.
I tried called 800 number and was told that they can't verify that address was successfully changed on the application.THey don't have access to personal information. They are asking me to take Inforpass to verify the address.
There is no LUD on either I-485 or EAD renewal after address change. Is LUD an indication that address change has been done? There are no infopass available for 2 months ( I will keep checking if somebody cancels )
Does anybody has any pointer as to how I can verify address change without infopass

Hi Friends,
My EAD expires in the mid of August.I am planning to go india at last week of July.I thought of applying for EAD renewal now.But my lawer said it is always preferrable that the candidate must present in US while processing EAD renewal.Is it ok if I apply for renewal after I come back from India.By that time,My EAD already expires.Will it be a problem If I apply for renewal after expiry of current EAD.I am currently on H1B visa and I am not using EAD status now.If it is a problem,I will postpone my India trip.

I left the U.S on October 30 2009. My L.C. [Perm] had been filed on July 30 2009 and was recently approved.
My 6 year H1B expired on Feb 2 2010, with approximately 160 days available for recapture.
My company needs me to return to the US urgently and is wanting me to apply for a Business Visa.
Subsequently when I am in the U.S, they intend to file for I140 and then 7th year H1B extension plus recapture
time based on pending I140
Is this feasible? -- What impact would it have on my green card application process?
My 6 year H1B expired on Feb 2 2010, with approximately 160 days available for recapture.

I have a question regarding location change with same employer. I have labor approved on EB2 India with PD 01/2005. I am employed with a big health care firm which has various locations in the region. I'd like to move to another location which is 30 miles away from my present site. I140 is pending with the same employer. I have also posed this question to my lawyer but appreciate greatly if anyone knows answer to this. Will this affect my GC?

It will import Adobe Illustrator files. I know that for sure.. that and as mentioned about 3ds files. I really don't know if it will do any others.
