AP is a very important document for re-entry incase if you don't have backup such as valid H1B visa. Have read quite a few cases here of people who wait till the last day for applying the renewal and then crying when an emergency occurs and they don't have valid a AP. It is in our best interest to apply it 120 days before its expiration date.
We are planning to go to India in the last week of September. My current AP expires by Oct 10. Hence applying for a new one. How long are AP approvals taking now a days at TSC.

My wife who is currently outside of US has recently received her L2 visa within one business day I may add! So, we're waiting for her to join me here in the States within two months as she is currently working abroad and needs to wait for her bonus $...
In any case, I was thinking of applying for an EAD for her in conjunction of i-485, but I've been reading that others who are holding a H1 visa is also applying for an EAD (why on earth for?!) as you are allowed to work on H1 already no? I thought EAD is authorization to work only??
In my case, my wife needs EAD in order to work as L2 only allows her entry to the States and her visa would "clone" mine (ie. whatever my expiry date is, hers will expire).
Should I also apply for EAD too even though my L1a visa already permits me to work legally here in the US?
Do you have your I-140 approved? Green card is independent of your current status (L-1 or H-1); the speed of getting green card depends on what category you can apply (Eb-1, EB-2 or EB-3) and your country of birth (i.e., the country where you were born, not the country of citizenship).

Hardly anyone has volunteered to go to USCIS with nixstor. That's sad. We are getting a megaphone to talk about our problems and yet in the entire DC area with a huge IV membership, we have just one person willing to go to USCIS.

Chennai consulate would take 1 or 2 days for processing. You can send an email to them or talk to VFS and request if they can re-schedule it for earlier date.
Wen you do not have much time, you should not take any chance. Try to reschedule it in Delhi or Bombay.
Chennai consulate took 2 days in 2005.

To the best of my knowledge you can not file for AOS while you are on TN . To process your green card you have to switch to your H1B from TN and start your green card as any other national i.e file for your Labor certification, I-140 and then i-485 .This process is same like any other national. Please search this forum as I had posted this before a couple of times. Dont worry, DOL/USCIS is going gangbusters
after H1B employers. You first threaten sending the link to your employer. Often that works. If they dont budge then
file the WH-4. Unfortunately WH-4 may wreck the H1B petitions/extension of other employees working for that
company(bodyshopper).
WH4 has nothing to do here with this case. WH4 is not panacea for anything to everything.

In real practice, they leave a note in PO Box. After reading note, that something is for you, you need to stand in Q, sign it and receive it.

My perm was applied in Apr audited and finally heard that my perm denied in July 2010.
Reason - travel language in the notice of filing but not on form 9089.
Attorney will be filing for an appeal. Do you think its a good option ? Also how long would it take to receive an answer?
As luck would have it , my H1-b 6 yrs expires in Nov -2010. However my company did apply for an extension to Oct 2011 based on my Perm. Now that my perm has been denied is that extension still valid?

I am not sure I understand. My wife resides in Mumbai. She had her h1 stamped there some time back around 5 years. That h1 she used and is gone now. Now she applied for h1 in fresh qupta since she was out of us for more than one year. Right now so where should we go for stamping. Shes in us with me on h4. Can we go to canada?
